Noxafil (Posaconazole) Indication

Noxafil, and Posaconazole (generic for Noxafil), is a medication used to fight specific infections caused by fungus. Noxafil (Posaconazole) is an anti-fungal medication that fights fungal infections in people with weak immune systems as a result of chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation.

Storage

Store Noxafil (Posaconazole) at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

Precautions

• Certain conditions may interfere with the medicinal efficiency of Noxafil (Posaconazole).
• Tell your doctor if you have a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome, a history of allergy to anti-fungal medications, liver disease, or a heart rhythm disorder.
• Before taking Noxafil (Posaconazole), tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant during treatment.
• It is not known whether Noxafil (Posaconazole) passes into breast milk or if it can harm a nursing baby.
• Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby before taking this medication.
• Take Noxafil (Posaconazole) for the entire length of time it was prescribed to you.
• Your symptoms may get better before the infection goes away completely.
• Noxafil (Posaconazole) will not treat a viral infection.
• Noxafil (Posaconazole) may not be as effective if you have ongoing vomiting or diarrhea. Call your doctor if you are experiencing these symptoms.

• Do not take it more often than recommended by your doctor.
• Follow the directions on your prescription label.
• Noxafil (Posaconazole) is most effective if you take it within 20 minutes after a meal or a nutritional supplement.
• If you are using liquid Noxafil (Posaconazole), shake the liquid well before you measure a dose.
• Use a properly marked medicine spoon or cup to be sure you get the right dose.
• Your pharmacist can supply you with a proper measuring device.
• Your blood will have to be tested on a regular basis to be sure this medication is working for you.
• Do not miss any scheduled appointments.
• Take this medication for the entire prescribed time.

• Migranal Nasal Spray
• Ergotrate
• Methergine

Severe Side Effects of Noxafil (Posaconazole)

Seek emergency medical attention if you have any signs of an allergic reaction including:

• Hives
• Difficulty breathing
• Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Pale skin

Less serious side effects include:

• Mild headache
• Hired feeling
• Joint or muscle pain
• Sleep problems
• Mild nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Stomach pain
