Indication : Monopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme medication that is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).

Storage : Monopril should be stored in a location that is at room temperature and additionally protected from moisture and heat.

Precaution : Before taking Monopril, tell your doctor if you have experienced any of the following: kidney disease; liver disease; heart disease or congestive heart failure; diabetes; a connective tissue disease such as Marfan syndrome, Sjogrens syndrome, lupus, scleroderma, or rheumatoid arthritis; or if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction. Your dosage may have to be adjusted accordingly.

Warnings : Antacids should not be taken within two hours of taking a Monopril tablet. Drinking alcohol while taking Monopril is not recommended, as it may lower your blood pressure to unsafe levels and additionally increases the severity of certain side effects that are associated with this medication. While taking Monopril, do not use any salt substitutes or potassium supplements unless your doctor has advised it.

Patient Family Information  : This medication should be taken exactly as it has been prescribed for you. When taking this medication, follow the directions on your prescription label. If you do not understand the directions on your prescription label, contact your healthcare provider for further clarification. Monopril tablets are generally taken with a full glass of water. While taking Monopril, ensure that you are properly hydrated. Do not stop taking Monopril without your doctor’s advice.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should not use this medication, as it could harm an unborn or breastfeeding child.
