Metanx Indication

Metanx is used to manage hyperhomocysteinemia and to supplement the diet. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Metanx is a vitamin combination that provides nutritional supplementation for certain nutritional needs.

Storage

Store Metanx at room temperature away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Metanx out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Precautions

• Some medical conditions may interact with Metanx.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding before taking Metanx.
• It is not known if Metanx is excreted in breast milk.
• Ask your doctor about the risks of using Metanx while breastfeeding.
• If you are taking any prescription medication, non-prescription medications, dietary supplements, or herbal preparations, tell your doctor before using Metanx.
• If you have anemia, it is important you let your doctor know before using this medication.

• Metanx is not recommended for use in children.

Patient Family Information

• Use Metanx as directed by your doctor.

• Metanx can be taken with or without food.
• If you miss a dose of Metanx for 1 or more days, do not be concerned.

Contraindication

• Do not use Metanx if you are allergic to any ingredient in Metanx.
• Some medicines may react with Metanx.
• Do not use Metanx if you are using Fluorouracil, or Hydantoins (phenytoin) because they may decrease the effectiveness of Metanx or cause unwanted side effects when used in combination with Metanx.

Severe Side Effects of

Seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of these severe side effects:

• Severe allergic reaction
• Hives
• Difficulty breathing
• Tightness in the chest
• Swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue
• Dizziness
• Itching

Common Side Effects of

Less serious side effects include:

• Drowsiness
• Feeling of entire body swelling
• Mild diarrhea
• Numbness or tingling
