Tell your doctor if you have a stomach infection or diarrhea before using this medication.

Warnings : Ampicillin does not treat viral infections, it only works against bacteria. Use Ampicillin for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up the infection completely and the bacteria can become less sensitive to the medicine. This can cause it to become harder to treat in the future. Long term use of Ampicillin can cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if another infection occurs. If you experience vomiting or diarrhea, you will need to make sure you keep yourself hydrated. Hormonal birth control pills will not work as effectively while you are using Ampicillin. Use a back up method of birth control to prevent pregnancy. Lab tests may be affected by Ampicillin. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are using this medication.
