WHAT IS EXJADE?
Exjade (Deferasirox) is a prescription medication that helps treat chronic hemochromatosis or increased amounts of iron in the blood that are caused by numerous blood transfusions in adult patients and pediatric patients 2 years of age and older. It belongs to a class of drugs called chelating agents or heavy metal chelator, which works by attaching the excess iron in the body to form a “chelate” that will be passed out in the stool.

EXJADE FAQs
What is Exjade used for?
Doctors prescribe Exjade for hemochromatosis or iron overload in the bloodstream due to blood transfusions. It gets rid of excess iron by forming a “chelate” and passes it out on the stool. These conditions can be treated by this medication but are rarely prescribed to be handled by Exjade: sickle cell diseases.
Exjade vs Jadenu: Which is better?
Jadenu is considered as a substitution medication for Exjade. Jadenu is easier to take, with or without food, for the treatment of increased amounts of iron in the blood. Both medications share the same side effects, effectiveness, and purpose.
