What is Dulera Inhaler?

Dulera Inhaler (mometasone furoate and formoterol fumarate dihydrate) is an inhalation aerosol that contains a combination of corticosteroids and long-acting beta 2-adrenergic agonists. This inhalation is indicated to control and prevent symptoms of asthma such as wheezing and shortness of breath. It works by inhibiting the effects on multiple cell types and mediators responsible for inflammation and asthmatic response. It also works locally in the lungs as a bronchodilator.

This oral inhalation is available in Dulera 200 mcg/5 mcg and Dulera 100 mcg/5 mcg.

Directions for using Dulera Inhaler

First, read the medication leaflet that comes with your Dulera Inhaler. Make sure to read all the sections and understand all the instructions printed in the guide. If you have additional queries or need further medical advice, you may ask your physician or pharmacist.

Remember to use this inhaler regularly. Make a dosing schedule to help you remember. Do not alter your dose or stop using Dulera without the advice of your physician, as this could lead to worsening symptoms. Your Dulera Inhaler dosage would depend on your condition and response to treatment.

If you are prescribed other inhalers, wait for at least one minute before administering each dose and use Dulera Inhaler last. However, if you are using a quick-relief inhaler to treat sudden asthma attacks, it would be necessary to discontinue your Dulera inhaler.

Step-by-step guide on using Dulera Inhaler:

  1. Take off the cap from the mouthpiece. Prime the inhaler by holding it in an upright position. Shake it well.
  2. Hold it away from your face and press the canister fully to release a puff. Shake and press four times to prime the inhaler. Then, check the counter. It should read “60” or “120”. This means the inhaler is ready for use.
  3. Shake the inhaler once again. Deeply and slowly exhale through your mouth
  4. Put the mouthpiece on and seal your lips around it. Inhale deeply as you press the canister fully, then release the canister.
  5. Hold your breath for not less than ten seconds. Then, remove the mouthpiece.
  6. Breathe through the nose with your lips closed.
  7. Breathe normally for 30 seconds and take another puff by repeating steps 3-6.
  8. If you’re done, put the cover of the mouthpiece back.
  9. Wash your mouth with water and then spit it out. Do not swallow.
