What is Ddavp?
DDAVP (Desmopressin) is a prescription medication that helps with the treatment of nighttime bed-wetting, central diabetes insipidus (excessive thirst and urination), and increased thirst and urination caused by head surgery or head trauma. It belongs to a class of drugs called antidiuretic hormones, which works by working on the kidney to reduce the amount of urine made.

Ddavp Dose

DDAVP comes in an oral tablet and nasal spray. The oral tablet comes in two dosage strengths, which are 0.1 mg and 0.2 mg, while the nasal spray comes in 0.01% strength.
- For the treatment of diabetes insipidus using the intranasal spray, administer DDAVP 10 to 40 mcg every day, either as a single dose or divided into 2 or 3 doses in one day. The usual dose is 20 mcg every day in 2 divided doses.
- For the treatment of diabetes insipidus using the oral tablet, the recommended starting dose is DDAVP 0.05 mg every 12 hours. The effective range is 0.1 to 1.12 mg, divided every 8 to 12 hours.
This medication must be stored at a controlled room temperature of 0 to 25°C (68 to 77°F), and must be kept away from direct heat and sunlight.
