Alvesco is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children over 12 years of age. When used on a regular basis as prescribed by a doctor, Alvesco will help prevent and control asthma symptoms. Alvesco is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

Store Alvesco at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the medicine away from open flame of high heat as the canister will explode if it becomes too hot.

Tell your doctor if you have had tuberculosis, an infection in your mouth, a history of glaucoma or cataracts, herpes in your eyes, or a family history of osteoporosis before using this medication. Tell your doctor if your child using this medication is not growing or gaining weight properly.

Patient Family Information  : Do not use the Alvesco inhaler to treat an asthma attack that has already begun. Use Alvesco exactly as it was prescribed to you. Alvesco comes with instructions for proper use, and directions for priming the inhaler. Follow these instructions carefully. Alvesco inhalers are to be used once a day, in the morning or evening. Follow your specific instructions. Rinse your mouth with water after using Alvesco. The inhaler must be primed before you use it or any time you have not used it for 10 days or longer.
